To the end....

A pending building warrant expiry forces progress

East Lothian Council finally called time on our Building Warrant and gave us one last extension - this focussed efforts onto completion.

Laying 3 ton of screed over the underflor heating brought up the kitchen floor level and allowed the kitchen install to proceed.

Once we had a fully functional (if a little unfinished) kitchen we had no need of the old one!

The roof showed an amazing reluctance to fall down, especially as it turned out the timbers were not keyed into the wall.

We had already opened out the old internal doorway and fitted a new external french doors for the dining room.

With the walls gone the next task was to break up the concrete floor.

With thanks to Ewen, Paul, Tim and Sam for the "muscle" and Jill and Gillian for refreshments.

The new shower room was nearly put off schedule due to a useless supplier call " The B@th S!ore" but we managed to get it complete enough to be ready two weeks before the deadline.

Work continued on the finishing of the shower room tiling and fitments and on the kitchen up until August when we finally declared it all finished.
