Ewen's Bike

My bike is a 1987 Honda VFR400R NC24 model. This was the first production bike to have a single sided swinging arm. I've owned the bike now for three years. I bought this bike after passing my I.A.M test on my trusty old CB400. The bike had had several owners after arriving in the U.K from Japan however it's small dimensions did not suit it's older owners. Yet a young person like my self felt at home instantly. Over the past three years it has proved to live up to the reputation that VFR's have built for them selves in that it has been a reliable bike always ready to go.

The bike has been all over Scotland in these years and has been a great bike. The bike is ideal for the biking nirvana of Scotland. It's lightweight, great brakes and  race bike style handling mean that on many roads bigger bikes are left struggling to keep up. Being a race replica it was never designed for touring though 500 mile trips are possible. The bike today remains as it left the factory with only the addition of a new tinted screen deviating from the original look. I intend to fit braided hoses when my student budget allows. For the mean time I intend to keep my bike however every summer I work hard saving up for my next bike. What is it?

You guessed it an other VFR400 this time the later NC30 version shown above. It uses a development of the NC24 engine however it has an all new frame and even smaller dimensions.  It's styling echoes that of its stable mate the legendary RC30 and has handling to match. Why do I want one ? -  well don't we all hanker after that newer more shiny bike?
